Holy Cross Women’s Volleyball team is honored as PinkHippy.org’s Volunteer of the Year

PinkHippy.org is proud to announce the recipient of this year’s Volunteer of the Year Award, the Holy Cross Women’s Volleyball Team. Members of the team and coaching staff have helped to raise awareness of PinkHippy.org and the integrative therapies and services that we offer to breast cancer patients in the area, and raised nearly $8,000 during the past two years to help fund the oncology massage program. They also acted as Santa’s Elves personal shopping assistants during PinkHippy.org’s Holiday Shopping event that provided an opportunity for cancer patients to do some of their gift shopping for free in a fun and relaxing environment.

In presenting the award, Del Bachand, President of the Board of Directors, noted that not only did the team “bring light to area cancer patients through their support of PinkHippy.org”, but they did it while preparing, practicing and playing a 29 game season and maintaining a rigorous academic load, with 9 members of the team being named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Speaking to the 48 volunteers that attended the 6th annual luncheon, held on Sunday, April 14th, Del Bachand expressed the Board’s appreciation for their commitment and dedication. “Thank you so much for volunteering your time, talents, and energy to PinkHippy.org. We would not be able to provide the services that we do without each and every one of you. You bring light to the cancer patients in our local communities, you make a difference”.

PinkHippy.org provides integrative therapies and holistic services to cancer patients, survivors and their families in south central MA, northeast CT, and northwest RI. Services such as oncology massage and reflexology for patients in active treatment are provided free of charge. For more information visit www.pinkhippy.org.
