The characters in this debut collection of short fiction inhabit worlds as familiar as your local restaurant or as foreign as a locked ward in a psychiatric hospital. What happens depends on the Lisa C. Taylor’s varied cast of characters. A recent widow seeks the services of a psychic, two children are placed in a witness protection program, a young woman is discovered hiding in a garden shed, and a doctor suddenly disappears. All of these stories compel both character and reader to reassess, reinvent, and look differently on the moments that can change the course of a life.

Lisa C. Taylor is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently Necessary Silence. Her poetry has been a finalist in numerous contests. Both her fiction and poetry have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. One of the stories in this collection won the Hugo House New Works Award in May of 2015. Lisa’s work is widely published in literary journals and anthologies. She was a spotlight feature for the Associated Writing Programs in January and she was a writing mentor for the AWP in the spring..

Lisa holds an MFA from Stonecoast (University of Southern Maine) and teaches creative writing and fiction at Nichols College and Eastern Connecticut State University.  Visit her website
