Dog Orphans Inc. Announces their 17th Annual Walk for Paws

Dog Orphans Inc. will hold its 17th Annual Walk for Paws on Sunday, May 3, 2015 beginning at 12:00 Noon at River Bend Farm in Uxbridge, MA. This anxiously anticipated spring event serves as a key fundraiser for the non-profit, no-kill shelter which relies on donations for its day-to-day operations. This event is being sponsored by 146 Supply Center, Sutton Animal Hospital, TLC Pet Haven, PawSteps Veterinary Center, Animal Arts, Eaglestar Security, VCA Blackstone Valley, Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital, and Uxbridge Animal Hospital.

Dog Lovers and their owners are encouraged to start soliciting supporters early for the walk, which takes place along the Blackstone River and Canal. Sponsor sheets are available at the shelter, on the website or personalize your own fundraising page at firstgiving.com! The Grand Prizes for the top three fundraisers this year are as follows: First Place is a $300 American Express Gift Card, donated by Peter Marion Second Place is an iPad Mini donated by 146 Supply Center; and Third Place is a $100 Pet Smart Gift Certificate donated by Sutton Animal Hospital.Juno in police car

River Bend Farm is a beautiful venue for the many family oriented activities scheduled for the day. These include musical entertainment by Auburn Suns, a Blessing of the Pets prior to the walk, Petting Zoo by Ironshoe Farm and face painting for the kids. Also NEW this year, The Boys & Girls Club of Blackstone, Ma will be there to provide lots of games, activities and prizes for children attending the event. Vendors will provide complimentary services during the walk including dog nail clippings, dog nail painting, micro chipping, agility demonstrations and canine massages. Come meet the new K-9 addition to the Douglas Police Department. Additional organizations that will be present will offer information on training, boarding, pet-sitting/walking, grooming, pet supplies and goodies, artistry and portraits, rescue organizations and local veterinary hospitals. Hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos and beverages will be sold by members of the First Holiday Night Committee in Uxbridge.

The mission of Dog Orphans Inc. is to take in abused, abandoned and unwanted dogs. After entering the program, all dogs are spayed or neutered, given the proper vaccines/tests, and groomed. Dog Orphans, Inc. relies solely on donations to operate our shelter. Walk For Paws is one of our fund-raising efforts held to benefit the shelter and educate the community about our organization.
