Independent bookstore in Webster, MA celebrates 20 year anniversary
2015 marks a very special milestone for Booklovers’ Gourmet in Webster, MA as they will be celebrating their 20th year in business. An independent bookstore, coffee house & gift shop, Booklovers’ Gourmet opened in early March of 1995 by owner/operator Debra Horan, a Webster native and graduate of The Rhode Island School of Design. From the outset, Debra envisioned a gathering place where people could meet, enjoy good books, local art, poetry & music in a cozy, inviting space while sipping on a cappuccino and homemade pastry. Still in its original location at 55 East Main Street, Booklovers’ Gourmet carries a wide array of new & used books as well as hand selected gift items, many made in the USA, including pottery, garden & home decor, local art, jewelry, incense, greeting cards and children’s educational puzzles & toys. Monthly book discussion groups, writers groups, author readings & signings, workshops and artist receptions are also offered. “One of my main goals in running this type of community-based business is to offer cultural opportunities for everyone to participate in, to grow and learn by meeting with others and experiencing things they may not otherwise get the chance to”, said Ms. Horan. The store hosts events with local, regional and national authors and showcases the work of local and student artists and musicians throughout the year.
The store has an extensive children’s selection of new and used books including Newbery and Caldecott Award winners. “I work closely with the local schools and libraries and we have developed a mutually beneficial relationship over the years”, Debra stated.
Regular business hours for Booklovers’ Gourmet are Monday & Saturday 10-5, Tuesday-Friday 10-6:30, closed Sunday. For more information call 508-949-6232 or email email@example.com.
