Webster Little League Celebrates Opening Day
WEBSTER – Cold and rain couldn’t stop Webster Little League, friends and families from having their annual Opening Day Parade, Ceremony and first games Sunday, April 28th.
The parade was led by Pete Twiraga and the Bartlett High School marching band. Pete also stuck around to announce the opening game of the season. Webster Little League was also joined by Webster Selectmen Randy Becker and Andrew Jolda as well as State Representative Joseph McKenna.
Special guests also included Webster Fast Pitch Softball and alumni from a Webster All Star team that won a New England Regional Championship in 1989.
Doug McKay was honored with the ceremonial first pitch for all of his hard work and dedication securing new sponsors and working at the fields to upgrade or replace just about everything.
Bartlett Varsity baseball players also attended and helped umpire some games.
Despite the unfavorable weather it was one of the best Opening Days in the 67 year history of the league (50th since being incorporated) and was truly a community effort!
