Wieloch Woods …A Dream Come True
In December 2015 and January 2016 the Dudley Conservation Land Trust, a non-profit organization, began a fundraiser for the purchase of 10 acres within Wieloch Woods. Through the generous donations of our members and grants, we have accomplished our goal. The acquired 10 acres completes the 80 acre Wieloch Woods sanctuary. Now that our goal has been achieved, DCLT would like to thank all those who donated to this fundraiser, making it a success and protecting this land in perpetuity. We would also like to thank the members of the Wieloch family for their land donations. Without their initial contribution this sanctuary would not have been possible. Features of this land includes streams, wetlands, forest, stonewalls, historic Grand Trunk Railway and native wildlife habitat. It will not only provide protection for wildlife, but also a quiet place to walk, meditate, observe nature, breathe clean air and enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons. Wieloch Woods is an example of DCLT’s mission: to provide and promote the conservation, acquisition and protection of land and open space for education, passive recreation, wildlife habitat and the preservation of the rural, natural and scenic character of Dudley and area communities, for current and future generations. In the near future, DCLT will be readying a parking area, trail marking and signage for Wieloch Woods for the convenience of our visitors. Please check our web site for information regarding Wieloch Woods and DCLT’s other sanctuaries. www.dudleyclt.org. Again, thank you to those who contributed to make this dream come true!
