Woman in Business, Tantasqua High School Drama Club Hold Interactive Murder-Mystery Dinner

Proceeds to benefit WIB’s scholarship fund and local area high school seniors

STURBRIDGE – Woman in Business, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) that supports women by fostering networking, sharing information and experiences, and providing educational opportunities within its local communities, is holding a fundraiser on Wednesday, May 23rd to benefit its annual scholarship fund. Over the last 27 years, WIB has awarded over $40,000 in scholarships to over 100 graduating seniors and young women within its community footprint for their continuing education.

WIB has paired with the Tantasqua High School Drama Club, under the direction of Club Advisor Samantha Briggs, to offer an interactive murder-mystery dinner theater experience and an evening to remember!

“Dinner at Eight, Dead by Nine,” authored by Michael Druce, is a clever comedy/mystery written specifically for a dinner theater setting. Audience members expecting a show are suddenly subject to a murder and must help solve the crime.

Tantasqua Drama Club’s rendition of the play is also under the direction of student leaders Samantha Sagendorph (’18) Alyssa Cameron (’19).

“The students are so excited to be able to put together this great performance for Woman in Business,” Briggs said. “We are fortunate to have an opportunity to support a local nonprofit and show our community how much amazing talent there is in our theater program.”

The play will take place on Wednesday, May 23 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the performance at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $30 each for General Admission seating and can be purchased online at wibsturbridge.org.

Ticket price includes dinner, theater performance and a sweet treats dessert buffet. The evening will also feature a raffle ticket auction, so guests are encouraged to bring cash to enter to win some great baskets and donated prizes.

“It’s truly an honor to be able to partner with such a great school and a great group of kids,” said Woman in Business President Laurie Nelson, Executive Director at Christopher Heights of Webster. “Our scholarship program is so special to graduating seniors; it’s fitting that we paired this opportunity with our local students. We’re very excited to support the Tantasqua Drama Club and watch them showcase their talent while raising money for such a great cause.”

Woman in Business, Inc. is also looking for community members or businesses interested in sponsoring or donating to the event. Sponsorships start at $100 and businesses can be recognized on many platforms, including social media, printed program booklets and on-site signage. Leading sponsors will also receive 2 tickets to Woman in Business’ Scholarship Awards luncheon in June. Additional information can be found by visiting wibsturbridge.org.
